How to become a Massachusetts Ghostbuster.

Welcome, Future Massachusetts Ghostbuster!

Thank you for your interest in joining us. We’re excited that you’re considering becoming part of our team of dedicated, community-minded paranormal enthusiasts. Whether you’re drawn to prop building, cosplay, volunteering, event outreach, or just sharing your love of all things Ghostbusters, there’s a place for you here.

Our group is built on teamwork, creativity, and a shared passion for keeping the Bay State ghost-free (at least in spirit!). We look forward to learning more about you and seeing how your unique talents can help strengthen our crew.

Strap on your proton pack—your application is the first step toward joining the adventure.

Who ya gonna call? Hopefully… us!

Massachusetts Ghostbusters, Inc. is registered 501c3 nonprofit organization run by a Board of Directors and a team of Official Members. We are all volunteers who coordinate fundraising, events, and the business logistics in our spare time.

Our Core Requirements:

✅ Must be 18 years or older

A (reasonably) screen accurate Ghostbusters universe uniform. Typically an ‘84/’89/RGB/2016 flightsuit with a no-ghost patch. In some situations like parades and cons, we have some flexibility with crossovers, but when we are ‘hired’ for events we aim for a classic Ghostbuster experience.
Proton packs and other equipment are not a requirement for joining - we’ll help you get yours going though!

We require yearly dues of $100 per household* for all members including our Executive Board. This helps us to cover our operational costs so more of our fundraised intake can go to our charities. What’s in it for you? Your membership will include official membership patches for everyone in your household, access to our official member’s Discord server, and free passes to events we work, including FanExpo Boston and Rhode Island Comic Con. Generally there are additional perks throughout the year as well.

Participation: our group depends on our volunteers pitching in to keep it running. In addition to our large Comic Cons and parades, we do a variety of smaller paid events throughout the state. We require yearly participation in a minimum of one paid event outside of FanExpo and Rhode Island CC. Also all of our group communications take place on our Discord server. Answering about event availability, keeping up with announcements, and planning logistics is important to stay up to date with.

Our main focus at events is to provide an exciting, educational, and interactive experience for our audience. In addition, members who attend events are expected to assist with setting up and running the booth, and fundraising for that event’s charity.

✅ General good conduct. We are a fun and spicy group with an off-beat sense of humor that enjoys teasing each other. That said - outright abuse, discrimination, or harassment of any kind will absolutely not be tolerated. Offenders will be warned, put on break, or banned depending on the severity of the offense.

When working Ghostbuster events, there will be an expectation of professionalism when interacting with the public, including age-appropriate conduct at family-friendly events.

To join, we ask that you fill out the application and our Head of Recruiting will contact you to set up a video interview. Currently we do not require background checks but we are seriously considering it, so please be aware we may request this.

*Annual dues deadline is March 15th. If you are joining us in the middle of the year (ie between FanExpo and Rhode Island), dues will be $50 for your first year.
